The elemental composition of xylem sap of Scots pine Pinus sylvestris L. trees was studied in the middle taiga in Republic of Karelia, in seasonal dynamics, depending on the tree vital status (dominating and suppressed in the canopy) and from forest type. The N, P, K contents and N : P : K ratio in xylem sap regularly change during vegetation and correlate with intensity of growth. However, the mineral nutrients contents varies during vegetation more than N : P : K ratio. Mean values of the contents and the ratio of macroelements for vegetation do not differ on the years of research. The independence was shown of the N, P, K contents and N : P : K ratio in xylem sap from the vital status of the trees growing in the same stand. The dependence was established of the xylem sap composition (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Mn, Zn, Cu, Al, Fe) on soil conditions in different forest types.
